PNoy Only Has Good Words for Embattled Allies
The commander-in-chief came out candid and defensive of his embattled allies when he played a picture association game on television on Sunday.
In the episode recorded in the Palace late last month, Vice Ganda had asked the President to describe in one word the politicians and celebrities whose images were shown on the television screen.
When a picture of Binay was displayed, the President described the country’s second highest leader as an old friend. “Matagal ko na ring kaibigan. Siya ang kasama ko ‘nung EDSA revolution [We’ve been friends for a long time. We were together during the EDSA revolution],” Aquino said.
On Roxas, the President described the DILG chief as “masipag [hardworking] and thorough.”
Aquino called Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Aquino as “maaasahan [reliable]” especially in times of calamities, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) chief Kim Henares as “maraming natatakot [feared by many], and Justice Secretary Leila de Lima as “serious” especially at work.
Aquino also described Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago as “combative” while Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo reminded him of the work of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.
Asked to describe younger sister Kris, the President said: “Interesting.”
