Search is On for Pope Francis' Dinner Date
With only 83 days to go before the scheduled apostolic visit of Pope Francis to the country, the Archdiocese of Palo in Leyte is in the process of selecting lucky individuals who will have the rare opportunity to have lunch with the Holy Father.
“The archdiocese is currently accepting recommendations and names of individuals who will have the opportunity to dine with Pope Francis. Aside from calamity victims from Leyte and Samar, earthquake victims from Bohol will also be included,” said Rev. Fr. Chris Militante, media coordinator of the archdiocese for the Papal Visit, over Church-run Radio Veritas 846.
The final decision, however, will be made by the Vatican Central Committee, said Militante. “Some families have already submitted their names but only a certain number will be accommodated. Members of the Vatican Central Committee will make the final decision when they arrive,” he said.
Militante stressed that only calamity victims will be included in the list of those who will dine with the pope.
