Philippines-Wounded Cop killer identified.Read more

Suspect Tare is reportedly wounded, hit by return fire from the police team.

He managed to escape but is believed still in Bohol seeking treatment for his wounds somewhere between his thigh and in his stomach.

A public alarm had been released calling all those clinics, doctors or anybody who may notice a patient being treated for gunshot wounds.

All are requested to report to the police any sighting or information of the suspect. A massive manhunt is being waged with positive leads that may track down the whereabouts and arrest of the suspect.

Tare (his photo taken from Facebook) is reportedly convicted in 2003 for an illegal drug offense and was released from the national penitentiary in Muntinlupa only last year.

The intelligence community said Tare was under the police watchlist and object of surveillance for drug pushing when the incident happened.

Reports also said Tare belongs to a group of guns-for- hire and was a skilled shooter; a former member of a shooters’ gun club here.

Tare is classified by police as a big-time drug pusher operating particularly in the towns of Baclayon, Loay and Lila.

Chief Police Insp. George Vale, officer-in-charge of the Tagbilaran City Police Station said the operation was conducted by the PIB unit and no personnel from the city police station were present in the area.

CInsp Vale, however, clarified that the PIB team, called him, informing on the operation in said house in Sitio Ubos but he was in Panglao at the time attending an executive-legislative consultation (ELA), organized by the city government.

The PIB team also did not request augmentation from the city police station for that particular operation, CInsp Vale added.

The house owner, a certain Belinda Tesorero, 34, is now under police custody after packs of substance believed to be shabu and drug sniffing paraphernalia were recovered by the police inside her house.

PO1 Ejoc is the fourth police officer killed in the all-out campaign against illegal drugs now affecting the city and almost all the 47 towns of this once peaceful tourism island.

The police has now positively established the identity of the drug suspect that shot to death a young police officer and critically wounded three others.

Police Chief Insp. Roland Lavisto, head of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit based in Camp Dagohoy, Tagbilaran City said they have identified the suspect-cop killer as Artemio Tare, Jr., a convicted drug personality and who is on the recent police watchlist in the on-going anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Three other police officers were wounded after they were shot at while responding to an alarm in Barangay Poblacion I, Tagbilaran City at 9:30 Friday morning.

Chief Insp. Lavisto said Tare, alias “Bejun” shot PO1 Michael June Ejoc, at close range. PO1 Ejoc died from a gunshot wound in the head.

PO1 Ejoc was at the front door of the house where Tare waited inside after the police called to those inside announcing their presence.

The suspect was with a woman, the house owner, and immediately open fired at the police officers as soon as the door opened.

Critically wounded and still under close observations of doctors in a private hospital is PO1 Reynan Tagotongan, also among the responding team, with gunshot wound in his left temple and the bullet still lodged inside.

Initial findings showed the suspect was armed with two hand guns; a caliber .45 and automatic 9mm pistol.

PO1 Carlito Gamalo and PO2 Judito Jasmin are already in stable condition in another hospital, a latest update from the police office said.

All four belong to the Bohol Provincial Police Office Provincial Intelligence Branch (BPPO-PIB).
