Water Service Interruptions in Metro and Cavite this Summer
Some residents in Metro Manila and nearby towns in Cavite will experience some waterless days during the searing heat of the Holy Week the service breaks are necessary to give way to flood control projects of the Dept. of Public Works and Highways. Some residents in Metro Manila and towns in Cavite would have tor brace themselves for some waterless days during the scalding heat of April with water service interruptions scheduled in some parts of the west zones concession areas from Apr. 15, 2014 Holy Wednesday to Apr. 19, 2014 Black Saturday. In it's advisory Maynilad Water Services Inc. said a 3 day, 2 day and 1 day water service break will affect parts of Imus, Kawit, Makati City, Malabon, Manila, Navotas, Pasay City and Southern part of Caloocan City. Other areas with scheduled water service pause include Bacoor, Cavite City, Noveleta and Paranaque City. Designed to address the perennial flooding in Manila, the DPWH project involves the construction of an interceptor drainage box culvert along Bluementritt St. The DBC will traverse the water pipe of Maynilad along Juan Luna St. corner Hermosa St. which will require the adjustment of water pipe prior to the implementation of the DPWH flood control project. Maynilad will need 72 Hrs. to drain, realign and energize it's affected water pipe because of it's 7 ft. tall primary line. To lessen the impact of the service interruptions on water consumers, the DPWH has allowed Maynilad to undertake it's pipe realignment activity over the Holy Week when fewer customers are expected to be home. Maynilad is also implementing alternating service interruptions in many areas, so affected customers can have 1 day to restock on their water supply. To further mitigate the impact of it's pipe realignment activity. Maynilad is reopening 4 deep wells during the Holy Week water interruptions. Around 60 water tankers will also be on standby to serve as areas that will experience 3 straight days of interrupted supply.
