VP Binay Said: "We Will Fight to the Last Blood."
Vice Pres. Binay has commended Phil. Marines for their courage and dedication after staying for 5 months at Ayungin Shoal to guard the disputed territory. The troops who called on Binay yesterday at the bayside Coconut Palace in Pasay City are Cpl. Tabilisima, PFC Pajarillo, Sgt. Galvan, D/Comm. Cenabre, 1st Lt. Pelotera, T/Sgt. Ventoza and T/Sgt. Panganiban. He issued a statement before 6 visiting Phil. Marines who had just completed their tour of duty on Ayungin Shoal in West Philippine Sea amid China's aggressive incursions to the country's territory. The Philippine had earlier brought it's territorial dispute with China before the United Nations Arbitral Tribunal. The 3 other members of the platoon PFC Esteban, Sgt. Sarmiento and Cpl. Luna failed to make it to the courtesy call due to prior commitments. The 9 Marines were replaced by fresh troops during the Mar. 29, 2014 mission that was twice blocked by the Chinese vessels. Binay said that the fact Philippine Navy was able to send replacement troops to defend the Ayungin Shoal sends the message that the Philippines will always assert it's sovereignty.
