Sen. Osmena to PNoy: Fire NPA's in Government
Pres. Aquino should fire members of his cabinet who are considered NPA (Non-Performing Assets) Sen. Osmena said yesterday. Oseman considered as the former political strategist of then Sen. Aquino in the 2010 presidential elections said that as practiced in private corporations it is the responsibility of the Chief Executive to fire his official found under performing. He particularly cited Dept. of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Sec. Abaya and Dept. of Energy (DOE) Sec. Petilla as virtual under performers. Osmena made this statements in a radio interview yesterday with the same message he gave in another radio interview last Tuesday morning. Pres. Aquino however defended Petilla in a speech last Tuesday before the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) at the historic landmark Manila Hotel. Osmena faulted Petilla for the current power shortages and also the high cost of electricity that consumers have to pay. He stressed that planning on implementing power projects takes 5 to 6 years. He said it would be unfair for him to name other members of the Aquino Cabinet who should also go but couldn't because they weren't in the cross hairs of his critical analysis but depend merely on 2nd hand reports. He had earlier that PNoy has 2 years left to speed things up particularly in the infrastructure sector where not one of the vaunted Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects were been completed. Osmena said there are many projects that should now be ongoing by this time or last year of 2 years ago but have not been started yet.
