Paint Your Facebook Purple If You Support RH Law
Color your social media profiles purple, if you support the Reproductive Health (RH) Act. This is the message that RH advocates wants to spread through social media as Supreme Court justices hold their summer session in Baguio City to discuss among other things the constitutionality of the Republic Act 10354, The Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012. The Purple Ribbon for RH Movement also asks supporters to wear or display purple ribbons to help show the urgency and importance of mitigating pregnancy related deaths in the country. This is part of a series of activities planned by the movement to convince justices to declare the RA 10354 constitutional and to lift the status quo ante order preventing it's implementation. The movement plans to hang purple ribbons and streamers around Baguio City and mount rallies in support of the RH Law next month. The justices are expected to deliberate on the controversial measure during the Supreme Court's traditional summer session in Baguio City, beginning on Apr. 8, 2014. The Young- Adult Fertility and Sexuality Survey (YAFSS) in 2013 revealed that 15 women die daily from pregnancy and childbirth related complications. 10% of those deaths are teenage women.
