Bar Topnotchers Says: I Was Off Everyone's Radar
Jumping for joy, these new lawyers celebrate their successful passing in the 2013 Bar Exams yesterday at the Supreme Court compound in Manila. They are among the 1,174 who passed the exam by 5,293 law graduates last year. When Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Brion announced the first placer in the 2013 bar examinations, the room filled with reporters and spectators were drowned by applause and cheers from the alumni of the Univ. of the Philippines (UP). UP after all has all the reasons to cheer since the state university which has produced many of the brightest lawyers and legal luminaries, has finally got out of an 8 year drought of not being able to produce a first placer in the most grueling licensure examination in the country. And what was more striking was that the topnotcher Nielsen Pangan was just an average student and was not even in the list of honor students at the UP College of Law, Even Pangan himself told reporters that he didn't expect to become this year's bar topnotcher. The 27 yr. old law examinee admitted he was off everyone's radar as a possible topnotcher in the 2013 bar examinations. According to the law office's website, Pangan who was born in Manila in 1987 took up BS Business Administration, major in Legal Management at the New Era University and graduated magna cum laude in 2008. Pangan then entered the UP College of Law and graduated in 2013.
