Philippines Celebrate the Feast Day of Miraculous Senor Santo Nino Today
With images of Child Jesus help up high, the devotees welcome the images of the Miraculous Senor Santo Nino de Cebu and Our Lady of Guadalupe as they make their way onto the Mactan Channel in Cebu City during the fluvial procession on Jan. 18 ,2014 the eve of the "Fiesta Senor". Meanwhile the image of the Child Jesus is placed on the ground overlooking the Santo Nino Church in Tondo, Manila as revelers perform during the Lakbayaw 2014 a celebration on the eve of the Feast of Santo Nino. A festive and colorful celebrations in honor of Jesus Christ will once again come into play today of the Feast of the Miraculous Senor Santo Nino as revelers shift focus from the adult Holy image of Jesus Christ being represented by the Miraculous Black Nazarene to the Child Jesus. Being celebrated in towns and provinces around the country, tens of thousands of devotees, pilgrims and tourists traditionally take part in the festivities that will include fluvial and land processions, masses and street dancing and colorful mardi gras parades. Church officials estimate attendees to double up this year due to the series of calamities that struck the country in 2013 and to pray for a better year. In Metro Manila the center of celebration will be the the Miraculous Senor Santo Nino de Tondo in Manila where hourly masses held continuously for 26 hours starting at 10 pm last night and ending at 12 am tonight will be held. In Pandacan, Manila the Buling-Buling festival in honor of the Miraculous Senor Santo Nino will be held. Hourly masses will be also held at the Senor Santo Nino Parish from 5 am to 12 pm and from 3pm to 8 pm. At 7 am masses will be held simultaneously inside the church and at the church yard where there will be a street dancing. In Cebu City, the popular "Fiesta Senor" in honor of the Miraculous Senor Santo Nino, the oldest celebration of the country will also be held. The heart of the "Fiesta Senor" is the locals centuries old devotions to the Holy Child, whose miraculous image is greeted with cries of "Viva!! Senor Santo Nino!!" "Hail to the Child King!!" and "Pit Senor!!" from the phrase "Sangpit sa Senor or Call to Senor".
