Orange Health Card Launches by Erap
Manila Mayor Earp and his wife former senator Loi Estrada hold an Orange Health Card during the launching of the health privilege card at the Manila City Hall on Jan. 3, 2014. It's aimed at revolutionizing the health system in the city by providing indigent residents access to free health services in any of the 6 hospitals operated by the Local Government of Manila. The Orange Card will be solely for Manila's indigent patients who will be receiving free in patient and out patient services. According to Erap the city health service is one of the priorities in his 10 point agenda after realizing that free medicine and healthcare services offered by the previous administration drained the budget of the local government. Assistant Medical Director of Ospital ng Maynila Dr. Pascual III said the 6 district hospitals are up for integration soon. This will entail the creation of database that will centralize the records of patients who are Orange Card Holders. Meanwhile a Blue Card will be given by the MSWD to residents who will be certified capable of paying at least a portion of their medical expenses.
