Philippines-SIM Card will Soon Needed to be Registered
The 1st district Rep. Sherwin Gatchalian has filed a measure that searches for the registration of Subscriber Identity Module. It's with the approval of House Bill 2624 in order to discourage bad people to use this SIM Cards for their criminal activities. It also regulates sale and distribution of SIM Cards. If the bill will be passed all telecommunication companies are required to keep a registry of the subscribers such as their name and address. They also need to present a Valid ID such as the government ID's or Private Company ID's in order to giver confirmation with the person who purchase. All the information of the SIM Card will be confidential except for the court order to release the information to a certain investigation or hearing. All prepaid subscribers are due to register their SIM 3 months once the bill has been passed. Telecommunication companies which defies the provision shall pay the fine of Php 300,000 for the 1st offense, Php 500,000 for the 2nd offense and Php 1 million for the 3rd and following offenses made.
