Philippines-Sec. Roxas Lauds Pasay City Mayor for Having Tent City
The Dept. of Interior and Local Government Sec. Mar Roxas has lauded Pasay City Mayor Antonio Calixto and the city's other officials for putting up a "tent city" at the Villamor Air Base Elem. School which served as temporary shelter of the survivors of Super-Typhoon Yolanda. The Tent City was Calixto's response to Roxas call for LGU's support to boost government's Yolanda disaster response. The "tent city" can accommodate an initial number of 100 families. Local officials have also provided portable toilets and have taken charge of distributing food packs and other relief goods to those who will stay due to pending relocation. The DILG Chief is still in Tacloban overseeing the relief response of the government. He suggested that other LGU (Local Government Units) can also put up temporary shelters or provide food, water and medicines to those who have decided to flee Tacloban City and other severely devastated areas.
