Philippines-Rep. Pacquiao's Bank Deposits Frozen by the Court of Tax Appeals
The Saranggani Rep. Manny Pacquiao yesterday cried foul over reports that the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) had ordered his bank deposits frozen as a result of a Php 2.2 Billion Tax Evasion Case. Pacman's counsel, Atty. Rojas said the boxer's camp will file a petition with the CTA to reconsider the implementation of it's freeze order against the bank accounts of Pacquiao and nullify the garnishment order. But Pres. Communications Operations Secretary Coloma Jr. reminded Pacquiao of his civic obligation to just pay the correct taxes or seek a settlement in the government. "As spiderman said, with great power comes great responsibility", Coloma Jr. said on an interview. He should just face the tax case. He can even offer a settlement. Despite the freeze order, Pacman said this will not hinder him for pursuing his humanitarian mission to provide relief goods for Super Typhoon Yolanda victims on Eastern Visayas, "I will borrow money from friends just to fulfill my promise to provide relief goods for the Super Typhoon survivors" Pacquiao said.
