Rebellion against Misuari and Malik

 The Dept. of Justice had begin to issue rebellion charges last Wednesday against to the Moro National Liberation Fund (MNLF) founder Nur Misuari and its other members, over the Zamboanga siege which left 200 people dead. DOJ said another case has also been filed in terms of violation of the International Humanitarian Law. Aside from Misuari, other respondents on the case include the MNLF Commander Ustadz Habier Malik and 59 other members said by the DOJ to its twitter account. It is a case with no bail. 

The Justice Department explained that the MNLF Faction had violated the provisions of the R.A. 9851 or The Phil. Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide and other Crimes Against Humanity. The DOJ had enumerated the violation of Section 4 (b), subsections 1 and 3 which include: 
  • (1) Violence to life and person, in particular, willful killings, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture. 
  • (3) Taking the Hostages
The MNLF members have also violated , DOJ said, Section 4 (c), subsections 1, 7 and 20 of the same law which include:
  • (1) Intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population as such or against  individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities
  • (7) Attacking or bombarding, by whatever means, towns, villages, dwellings or buildings which are undefended and which are not military objectives, or making non defended  localities or demilitarized zones the object of attack;
  • (20) Utilizing the presence of civilian or other protected person to render certain points, areas immune from military operations.
