Pres. Noynoy Aquino Signs the New Juvenile Justice Act
The president has now signed the new R.A. No. 10630 which strengthens up Juvenile Justice System. It introduced several amendments to the former Juvenile Justice Act of 2006 which counts the "Bahay Pag-Asa" where every part of the country should accommodate juvenile offenders. This new act set asides the fund of Php 400 million for building and creating rehab centers for "Bahay Pag-asa". The local government units must now bring contribution of at least Php 5 million in their own rehab centers. The new "Bahay Pag-Asa" will be now having an "Intensive Juvenile Intervention and Support Centre (IJISC)" which has been formed for criminals within the age of 12 to 15. A child age of 12 to 15 who had crimes such as parricide, murder, infanticide, kidnapping, serious illegal detention, robbery, arson and carnapping are all covered by the Pres. Decree No. 603 which is "neglected child" and will be transffered to IJISC.
