Its not secret that one of the favorite way to have permit in Greece is the Asylum Service
On June 7 officially started the operation of the new Asylum Service.
According to an announcement by the Greek Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection within 10 days recorded by the Regional Office of Attica total of 385 requests for asylum. Also, from June 17, 2013 launched the first interviews and examination of asylum claims have been made within five days of 57 interviews.
Of the 385 people who applied for asylum in the service so far, 261 were men and 124 were women, while 14 people were unaccompanied minors, among which two infants. The applicants came from 37 different countries, with the main countries of origin Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Pakistan, Syria, Georgia, Ethiopia, Albania, Iran, Eritrea and Sudan.
The Asylum Service established by Law 3907/2011, under the Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection and is the first autonomous structure of the country dealing with the examination of asylum claims. Formed by the Central Intelligence Agency, based in Athens, and Regional Asylum Offices in the regions of Greece, which will be phased into operation.
The new Asylum Service assumes only the examination of new asylum claims submitted to the Office by the first day of operation and thereafter. The previous applications remain within the relevant departments of the Greek Police.
